ACT is offering free professional development workshops for North Carolina educators. Join Bryan Williams for two in-person workshops (each location) designed to help educators and school and district leaders leverage predictive data and align instruction to the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards.

Registration Options: Attendees may register for the morning session, the afternoon session, or both. We encourage you to bring your team for collaborative planning!

Morning workshop: ACT & PreACT Data: Stronger Together
9:00 a.m. – Noon

Gain insight into the valuable data created by the ACT and PreACT. Learn to strategically work with both data sets to impact student, classroom, and school preparation for the ACT. Discover how to create SMART goals for the ACT based on predictive PreACT data, and identify specific strengths and opportunities to address students’ needs related to their success on the ACT.

Learning objectives:

  • Establish foundational knowledge of the PreACT and ACT assessments to support data analysis.

  • Understand the major data points connecting PreACT and the ACT.

  • Use the predictive value of the PreACT to determine areas of focus and how to create SMART goals based on school-level ACT data.

Afternoon workshop: Anchoring your Curriculum
1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The ACT College and Career Readiness Standards are the backbone of the ACT test. Derived from the performance of thousands of students, these standards clarify what successful students need to know for college and career. This workshop helps curriculum developers, teaching teams, and building leaders to align their curriculum with both state standards and the ACT College and Career Readiness Standards.

Learning objectives:

  • Understand the connection between ACT College and Career Readiness Standards and the ACT test.

  • Use ACT data reports to evaluate the current performance of students in your school or district.

  • Gain the tools to lead a collaborative discussion about curriculum and standards with content teachers, school leaders, leadership teams, counselors, and administrators.

  • Begin the process of focused ACT Standards alignment to your curriculum.

Who should attend:
These hands-on workshops are ideal for instructional coaches, curriculum and data specialists, building leaders, and district assessment or accountability staff who are looking to turn predictive insights into actionable schoolwide improvement on ACT readiness.
